OneCommand Teams Up with Project Connect to Provide Homeless Students in the Cincinnati Area with School Supplies

September 04, 2013

The Employees at OneCommand Help to Fulfill Educational Goals for the Fastest Growing Homeless Segment

Cincinnati, OH - OneCommand, (www.onecommand.com) the leading Customer Marketing and Loyalty Automation Platform™ for auto dealers, schools, municipalities, churches, charities, and sports organizations, has partnered with Project Connect, an organization that provides advocacy paired with specialized educational services and lifestyle enrichment opportunities for children who have neither a voice, nor a choice, in being homeless, to ensure they get the most out of the 2013-2014 school year.

Together, the team at OneCommand and Project Connect will help homeless children in the Cincinnati area by providing notebooks, pens, paper, and everything else needed to get a great start, and finish, to the upcoming school year. The employees at OneCommand collected school supplies and donations in their Cincinnati corporate office throughout the month of August in support of this initiative.

“It is really great to see the entire OneCommand team working together and pitching in to support such an important initiative,” states Jeff Hart, President and CEO at OneCommand.  “Education is a building block for our youth and without the proper tools and supplies, these students are not afforded the same opportunities as their peers.”

Project Connect, Cincinnati Public Schools Homeless Program, founded in 1996, supports the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Project Connect works to ensure academic success and school stability to school age children experiencing homelessness, one of the fastest growing segments of the homeless population in America. Homelessness has a devastating impact on a child’s physical safety and health, mental well-being, and academic progress. Project Connect’s goal is to keep this most vulnerable population connected to their education by providing school supplies, uniforms, enrollment assistance, transportation, advocacy, tutoring, psychological assessment and support, summer programs, and enrichment activities. Each year Project Connect provides hundreds of homeless students with essential supplies for the school year.

“The children who benefit from annual school supply drives are so appreciative of each donation, large or small,” according to Rhonda Lewis, School Community Coordinator at Project Connect. “The community demonstrates, through giving, that they care about the well-being of children experiencing homelessness, and ensures education is a top priority. Giving just a little can go such a long way in affording these children with the same opportunities as everyone else and for this we are thankful.”
